World War III Is Incremental-Seattle is the Latest Example
World War III might well have begun in 1983, October 23, 1983, when Islamists blew up the U.S. Marine Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon. That incident cost the U.S. 241 servicemen killed and sixty injured. A few seconds later, the French in Beirut lost 58 paratroopers in an identical bombing. Over the following years, there have been numerous attacks on U.S. personnel and interests including our embassies and military. Now we are seeing the attacks on the homeland.
On February 26, 1993, the World Trade Center was bombed at the behest of the Blind Sheik, Omar Abdel-Rahman. That was, of course, ultimately followed by the 2001 destruction of the World Trade Center. Each of the bombings was dramatic, but it was not until the 2001 incident that Americans took notice. In fact, the U.S. media and the public scarcely noticed the warning signs that were clearly evident during the trial of the Blind Sheik. The American public was too busy following the O.J. Simpson trial to take notice.
The World Trade Center bombings were large, dramatic, and infrequent. They were the work of organized terrorist cells. There is another terrorist trend in the U.S., and that is the attack by single, or a couple of individuals, also motivated by fanatical Islamism. Examples include, Richard Reid (the attempted shoe bombing), Mir Aimal Kasi for killing CIA employees, Hesham Mohamed Hadayet (Lax El Al shooter), John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo (D.C. snipers), Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar (driving a car into people at UNC-Chapel Hill), Joel Henry Hinrichs III (intended bombing at U of O’s stadium at Norman, Oklahoma), and now Naveed Afzal Haq with the shooting in Seattle.
Whether the attacks are grand or petite, Islam is the one commonality. The Islamic goal is the conversion of the entire world to Islam, by force if necessary. The world is smoldering from the heat of fundamental Islam. A world war is upon us, and the conflagration has begun.
