Mark Foley Did What & He’s Doing What?

Florida GOP Congressman Mark Foley has apparently been playing footsies, or perhaps something else, with underage males.

In late September of 2006 it became public knowledge that Republican congressman Mark Foley had been, for a number of years, sending sexually explicit instant messages and suggestive emails to underage boys who were congressional pages.

Foley’s actions, if true, says that he is gay and a pedophile. Foley resigned from the Congress. That’s the decent thing to do if you are involved in a scandal. Too bad Bill Clinton did not do the same.

Now it appears that Foley has announced that he is an alcoholic and that he is entering alcoholism rehabilitation.

Painfully, the events that led to my resignation have crystalized recognition of my longstanding significant alcohol and emotional difficulties.

I strongly believe that I am an alcoholic and have accepted the need for immediate treatment for alcoholism and related behavioral problems.

That’s a good one. Foley would have us believe that his pedophilia was caused by alcoholism. Yeah, sure!
