Murtha Served Well, Now It’s Time to Go
John Murtha served his country well as a U.S. Marine during Vietnam. I thank him for his service. But, his continual attacks on our military suggest that perhaps advancing age has played a cruel trick on this old warrior.
Sometimes it seems as if older men lose the steel in their backbones, and they forsake the ideals of their youth. Some might say “nay” and proclaim that the old warrior has attained wisdom. I disagree. I think it is more likely that they are worn down, facing the shortness of their mortality, and simply can no longer stand tall in the face of real adversity.
It is time for Murtha to retire from public life.
