A Good Man Died Today

We all know that we will die some day. And, there is an expected order to it. Children are not supposed to die before their parents, and younger colleagues and friends are not supposed to precede you. It happens too frequently, and for those left behind it is an extra heavy burden. A wife without companionship and support; children still in school who never had a chance to share grandchildren with their father; friends and colleagues dumbfounded; all numb with shock over the unexpected dreams and expectations denied.

A Senior Deputy with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, Mike Houlihan was an extraordinary intelligence detective. As an investigator, he developed a wealth of information that he freely shared with intelligence colleagues all over the country in a mutual battle against criminality. Mike was especially well known in Southern California, where over the years he served as a board member for various law enforcement intelligence organizations. Mike was a cop’s cop.

I miss you Mike. Thanks for being a good friend and colleague.
