Why Not More Communities?

Cambria, CA, is proud of their sons and daughters who serve in the military. This sign is posted at the entrance of Cambria.

Regardless of whether or not you agree with the mission, our military personnel (that’s our sons and daughters, more distant relatives, friends, acquaintances, and neighbors) are making personal sacrifices for us. Can’t we be just a little more demonstrative of our appreciation? The national shame of the Vietnam era that was promulgated by the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) is long past. Now, I suspect, we are suffering from plain old apathy.
