Update on Jeff in New Orleans-9/2/05 1626 Hours PDT

Jeff is stranded by the flood in New Orleans. See my blog here for the start of the story.

Here’s the latest,

Just got off the phone with Jeff who called from a public land line phone. He sounded OK, but said he hasn't seen the presence of the National Guard yet over in his sector near the French Quarter. When I told him there were Guard Units deployed all around the Superdome he acted surprised! I don't know what this means other than the "word out on the street" is that support may still be lacking in parts of the city.

Jeff also mentioned that the explosion which went off earlier this morning was a warehouse very close to him wherein propane was set off by a fire.
