CAIR Finally Issues Fatwa

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is one of the most influential Muslim organizations in the U. S. It may seem strange that until recently, CAIR has been virtually silent on the issue of denouncing Islamo-Fascist terror acts. You would think that U. S. Muslims, living in the land of plenty, would be shouting the house down in opposition to their fellow Islamist terrorists. But, that has not been the case. The people who run the Anti-CAIR web site don’t think it is strange. They maintain that CAIR is intimately involved in terrorism:

Since its founding in 1994, CAIR and its employees have combined, conspired, and agreed with third parties, including, but not limited to, the Islamic Association for Palestine (“IAP”), the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (“HLF”), the Global Relief Foundation (“GRF”), and foreign nationals hostile to the interests of the United States, to provide material support to known terrorist organizations, to advance the Hamas agenda, and to propagate radical Islam. CAIR, and certain of its officers, directors, and employees, have acted in support of, and in furtherance of, this conspiracy.”

Ghassan Elashi was a high-ranking CAIR official at the time he committed the pro-terrorist crimes for which he was convicted.”

Randall"Ismail"Royer was an active official in CAIR at the time he committed his pro-terrorist crimes --- Royer plead guilty.”

The Anti-CAIR folks cite a CAIR lawsuit of Andrew Whitehead as evidence supporting the contention that CAIR is associated with terrorism.

The CAIR fatwa includes:

“In the light of the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah we clearly and strongly state: 1. All acts of terrorism targeting civilians are haram (forbidden) in Islam.2. It is haram for a Muslim to cooperate with any individual or group that is involved in any act of terrorism or violence.3. It is the civic and religious duty of Muslims to cooperate with law enforcement authorities to protect the lives of all civilians.”

Here is the CAIR press conference.

It may well be that CAIR did spring from terrorism organizations and that founders of CAIR have been convicted of terrorism activities. It does seem suspicious that CAIR has taken much too long to issue a definitive statement as in this fatwa.

The lack of worldwide Islamic protests against Islamo-fascist terrorists acts is obvious. However, at the mere hint of, and without a shred of proof, Muslims will riot in response
to an allegation that the Quran was “defiled” or other alleged insults to Islam. Ahmed H. al-Rahim’s article in the Wall Street Journal (subscription required) asks, “Why Not a 'Million Muslim March'?” Rahim states, “Where is the Muslim outrage, the mass protests to defend Islam, in whose sacred name murder is committed nearly every day…”

I, for one, am not convinced about the sincerity of CAIR
